HISTORY

The 1768 Hubbell Homestead has been passed down through nine generations of Hubbell descendants. It is set in the farm country of southwestern Vermont with sweeping views of the Green Mountains. The homestead once played a small part in the American Revolutionary War and now, appropriately, overlooks the Bennington Battle Monument.

Owned and operated by direct descendant of James Colby Colgate, the 1768 Hubbell Homestead at Colgate Park reflects a high degree of care and a sense of family and community. The property is distinctive in its ability to accommodate a range of events from small gatherings to weddings to corporate events. It is a place where friends and family can truly come together to celebrate.

The Maple House was once an integral part of the working farm known as Fillmore Farm, being a place where milk was pasteurized. The farm was incorporated within the 4,000 acre Colgate Estate. When milk production exceeded the capacity of the Maple House, the building was adapted to process maple syrup into maple sugar. Located in the middle of Colgate Park, the Maple House has been completely updated to accommodate smaller, less formal gatherings and special events than the nearby 1768 Hubbell Homestead. The ground floor features a large bar, entertainment center, over-sized restrooms and patios. Upstairs is a beautifully restored apartment that can comfortably sleep up to six guests with three bedrooms and a full bath. There is also a beautiful living area with antiques, large brick fireplace and a high-ceilinged kitchen with skylights.
