Named in honor of James Colby Colgate, Colgate Park is located in the Shires of Vermont in what is known as the west end of the Town of Bennington. Colgate Park is primarily a venue for special events although it also has retail stores in its restored barns and professional office suites in the old dairy bottling plant. The special events aspect of Colgate Park is unique not only for its beautiful setting and considerable amenities, but also for its range and ability to accommodate events of different sizes and needs. Currently there are outdoor areas for large or small festivals, shows, assemblies, exhibitions and indoor space for more intimate events like family gatherings, reunions, parties, educational or entertainment events. Under renovation is a major, indoor area designed with state of the art events facilities that will accommodate as many as 1,000 people for year round functions, including sit-down dinners, dances, meetings, corporate retreats/seminars, virtually any situation intended to bring people together.
Another unique aspect of Colgate Park is its adjacent property, the 1768 Hubbell Homestead, a lovingly restored pre-Revolutionary War era farmhouse that – with its multiple outbuildings, gardens and grounds – is available for destination weddings, corporate retreats, private gatherings that require a specialized, distinctive, full-service approach. The Hubbell Homestead has the flexibility of catering to larger, private events because of its special events barn and expansive tented space.
Owned and operated by direct descendants of James Colby Colgate, Colgate Park reflects a high degree of care and a sense of family and community. The main objective in bringing an old, Vermont farm property back to life is to offer a special place for special events, a place where people will truly want to come together.
